Job summary

Sunnybank Private Hospital, part of the Healthscope network in Brisbane, seeks a Nurse Unit Manager to lead the ICU nursing team. You will provide leadership, education and clinical guidance to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient unit operations.

You will mentor staff, coordinate evidence-based nursing practices, and manage resources within budgetary constraints while maintaining excellent patient service standards.

Qualifications

• Current Registration with AHPRA and eligible to practice in Australia.
• Experience in leadership roles within ICU or critical care settings.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Leadership and Management are preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to developing in a management role with clinical excellence.

Position Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for providing leadership, direction and unit specific education to the ICU team, to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital and wider facility.

You will provide operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management of the area and coordinate the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based. In addition, you will be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels.

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will undertake direct patient care as required. Provide guidance and support to all members of the nursing team as well as facilitating educational programs to ensure high levels of ICU competence is maintained within the unit.

Selection Criteria:

• Current Registration with AHPRA
• Previous experience in Leadership role
• Previous experience in intensive or critical care education
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A strong commitment to developing in a management role
• A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customerfocused care
• Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
• Proven time management and prioritisation skills
• Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
• Post graduate qualification in relevant field of specialty or working toward
• Post-graduate qualifications in Leadership and Management

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and QLDNMA/ANMF- QLD Nurse and Midwives' -Enterprise Agreement2025, a salary ranging from $68.21 - $73.09 per hour
