Job summary

Sterling NT is seeking a grounds maintenance operator to ensure high standards of grounds care. You will operate ride-on mowers, remove litter, and perform routine equipment maintenance to meet site schedules and specifications.

The role requires adherence to safety, health and environmental policies and the ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment in the NT region.

Qualifications

• Class C Driver’s Licence (manual).
• Ability to work under supervision and as a team member.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
• Be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
• Be able to perform manual work for long periods outdoors.
• Certificate I or equivalent qualification in horticulture.
• Working with Children Card (or be willing to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns using ride on mowers (front deck & Ztrack).
• Remove litter from garden beds and driveways.
• Remove dead branches and leaves.
• Perform routine maintenance on mowing equipment.
• Tasks to be carried out in a manner that causes the least inconvenience to customers, staff and the general public.
• Temporary warning signs placed when required.
• Operate equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and the SNT operating procedures
• Report maintenance and repair issues to the area supervisor.
• Understand and comply with quality, safety, health and environmental policies.
• Follow written instructions, verbal direction and procedures to perform work.
• Challenge any instructions that you believe places anyone or the environment at risk.
• Take personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of people or the environment.

JOB OVERVIEW

SELECTION CRITERIA

ESSENTIALS

• Class C Driver’s Licence (manual)

• A satisfactory National Police Security Check Report.
• Be physically able to perform the duties of the position
• Be able to perform manual work for long periods outdoors

DESIRABLE

• Certificate I or equivalent qualification in horticulture.
• Working with Children Card (or be willing to obtain)
