Job summary

Sterling NT in the Northern Territory is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to ensure landscaping areas are kept to site schedules and specifications. You will operate lawn mowers, prune plants, and perform general maintenance across our client sites.

The role involves outdoor manual work, adherence to safety policies, and teamwork in a dynamic environment. Applicants should be able to work outdoors for long periods and hold required licences and clearances.

Qualifications

• Class C Driver's Licence (manual).
• Ability to work under supervision and as a team member.
• A satisfactory National Police Security Check Report.
• Be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
• Be able to perform manual work for long periods outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns, cut edges with hand and ride-on mowers (front deck & Z-track) and whipper snipper.
• Plant garden beds and landscape maintenance.
• Remove litter from garden beds and driveways.
• Prune shrubs and plants and remove dead branches and leaves.
• Fertilising, mulching and maintaining the health of all plants; identify and prevent diseases.
• Use spraying equipment to control weeds, pests and insects.
• General maintenance tasks such as raking and shovelling.
• Carry out tasks with minimum inconvenience to customers, staff and public.
• Place temporary warning signs when required.
• Operate equipment per manufacturer and SNT procedures.
• Report maintenance and repair issues to area supervisor and follow safety policies.
• Follow written and verbal instructions; comply with procedures; protect health and environment.

JOB OVERVIEW

Responsible for the provision of ground maintenance services, safe and efficient operations of gardening equipment and machinery to ensure our client’s landscaped grounds are maintained as per the site schedule and specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

• Mow Lawns, cut edges with hand and ride on mowers (front deck & Ztrack) and whipper snipper.
• Planting garden beds and landscape maintenance
• Remove litter from garden beds and driveways.
• Prune shrubs and plants and remove dead branches and leaves.
• Fertilising, mulching and maintaining the health of all plants with identification and prevention of diseases
• Use of spraying equipment like backpack sprayer, knapsack sprayer and motorised spraying equipment, to control weeds, pests and insects.
• General maintenance tasks such as raking and shovelling
• Tasks to be carried out in a manner that causes the least inconvenience to customers, staff and the general public.
• Temporary warning signs placed when required.
• Operate equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the SNT operating procedures
• Report maintenance and repair issues to the area supervisor. Understand and comply with quality, safety, health and environmental policies.
• Follow written instructions, verbal direction and procedures to perform work.
• Challenge any instructions that you believe places anyone or the environment at risk.
• Take personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of people or the environment.
