Job summary

Hancock Iron Ore is seeking an Engineer Communications on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth to the Roy Hill Mine. You will join the Technology Operations team at contract mine sites to ensure RF networks are stable, highly available and efficient.

You will manage In-Pit WiFi, TETRA and LTE, perform network performance testing and contribute to security configurations; collaborate with Technology leadership. The role requires relevant diploma or equivalent mining networking experience, and will

Qualifications

• Certificate IV, Trade Certificate or Diploma in a technology-related field or extensive mining networking experience.
• Experience in RF planning and planning tools for WiFi, TETRA and LTE.
• Knowledge of Layer 2/3 networks and RF spectrum allocations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimise network and communications infrastructure, including In-Pit WiFi, TETRA and LTE.
• Maintain network asset inventories and related documentation.
• Monitor service level agreements and enforce them.
• Provide network performance statistics and reports to Technology leadership.
• Plan, procure and coordinate installation of network hardware and software.
• Contribute to design and configuration of security measures including encryption and firewalls.
• Research network products and standards to support procurement and development.
• Negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure products and services.
• Assess and approve upgrades of equipment, hardware and software.
