Job summary

Hancock Iron Ore is seeking an Engineer Communications on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth to the Roy Hill Mine. The role ensures stability, integrity and high availability of the RF networks across contract mine sites, including Sanjiv Ridge and McPhee.

You will manage In-Pit WiFi, TETRA and LTE, support network asset documentation, monitor SLAs and deliver performance reports to the Technology leadership team. The role requires a technology qualification or equivalent mining telecom experience.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV, Trade Certificate or Diploma in a technology-related field or extensive demonstrated experience in similar roles.
• Experience in networking and communications support in mining or engineering-intensive industries.
• Experience in RF planning and RF planning tools; RF Desktop studies, path profiling and link budgeting for WiFi, Microwave, TETRA, LTE.

Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure optimal operation of network and communications infrastructure (In-Pit WiFi, TETRA, LTE).
• Practice network asset management, including inventory and documentation.
• Ensure service level agreements are monitored and enforced.
• Provide network performance statistics and regular reports to Technology leadership.
• Plan, acquire and coordinate installation of hardware and software across the organisation’s network.
• Contribute to design and configuration of fixed, wireless and mobile security measures (firewalls, encryption).
• Conduct research and recommendations on network products, services, standards for procurement and development.
• Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services.
• Assess, approve and administer upgrades to equipment, hardware and software.
