Job summary

Barminco is seeking an experienced Communications Technician to join the team on a full-time basis with a FIFO roster ex Perth. The role is vital for delivering safe, productive underground mining operations and ongoing project success.

You will install, commission, and maintain underground communications networks, support tele-remote and automation systems, and provide technical leadership across mining operations to achieve performance goals.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Telecommunications, Electronics, Information Technology (or equivalent).
• ACMA-compliant Open Cabling Registration with endorsements such as Structured Cabling and Coaxial Cabling.
• Demonstrated experience in mining, resources, or heavy industrial sectors, ideally underground.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain underground communications infrastructure including digital radio systems, fibre, leaky feeder, Wi-Fi, and BLE.
• Support deployment and fault-finding of mining technology platforms such as fleet management, proximity detection, tele-remote operations, and environmental monitoring.
• Assist in tele-remote mining systems implementation ensuring low-latency underground–surface communication.
• Install, test, and troubleshoot IoT devices, sensors, and telemetry ensuring data integrity.
• Collaborate with operations, electrical engineering, and IT/OT teams to support edge computing devices and industrial gateways.
