Job summary

Barminco, part of the Perenti Group, seeks a Communications Technician for full‑time underground operations on a 7/7 or 14/14 FIFO roster from Perth. You will install, commission, and maintain underground communications systems, including digital radios, fibre, leaky feeder, Wi‑Fi, and BLE.

You will support tele‑remote operations and IoT devices for autonomous mining activities. The role collaborates with operations, electrical, and IT/OT teams, driving data‑driven decision making while

Responsibilities

Install, commission, and maintain underground communications infrastructure including digital radio systems, fibre optic networks, leaky feeder systems, Wi‑Fi mesh, and BLE technologies.
Support deployment, integration, and fault‑finding of mining technology platforms including fleet management systems, proximity detection systems, tele‑remote operations, and environmental monitoring solutions.
Assist in implementing and maintaining tele‑remote mining systems for stable, low-latency communication between underground equipment and surface control.
Conduct installation, testing, and troubleshooting of underground IoT devices, sensors, and telemetry to ensure data integrity.
Collaborate with operations, electrical, and IT/OT teams to support edge computing devices and network infrastructure in integrated mining automation.
