Job summary

Cranbourne West Medical Centre is seeking a friendly, professional Casual Medical Receptionist to join our busy clinic in Melbourne. You will manage bookings and registrations, greet patients, and handle billing using Best Practice software in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

We require at least 1 year of medical reception experience, strong customer service, and the ability to multitask while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of medical reception experience in a general practice or specialist clinic.
• Experience using Best Practice medical software (essential).
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Professional presentation and a positive, friendly attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Sound computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Experience with Medicare billing and claiming (desirable).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients in a warm and professional manner
• Managing appointment bookings, cancellations, and recalls using Best Practice software
• Answering and directing telephone enquiries
• Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate medical records
• Billing patients, processing Medicare claims, and handling EFTPOS payments
• Liaising with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and external healthcare providers
• Managing incoming correspondence, referrals, and pathology results
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with privacy legislation
• Providing administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice
