Job summary

Bupa is seeking a casual Medical Receptionist in Melbourne to warmly welcome patients, manage appointments, and liaise with the care team. You will register patients, handle payments and insurance queries, and maintain a calm, efficient reception area to ensure a positive patient experience.

The role suits someone with GP reception experience and familiarity with Best Practice, who can be flexible across Monday, Wednesday and Thursday shifts, contributing to a patient-centered clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Must have Medical Reception experience.
• Must have availability to work across Mondays, Wednesday and Thursday’s.
• Previous GP Medical Receptionist experience is ideal.
• Best Practice experience is advantageous.
• Register new patients and update existing patient information accurately in the clinic's system.
• Assist with appointment bookings and coordinate with medical staff for consultations, tests and follow-ups.
• Process payments, health insurance claims and billing inquiries with confidentiality.
• Keep reception area clean, organised and stocked with supplies.
• Monitor inventory and request supplies as needed.
• Demonstrate teamwork and communication with the general practice nursing team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate appointments and connect patients with the right care team.
• Answer questions with confidence and ensure patients feel heard and helped.
• Maintain the smooth operation of the reception and assist staff as needed.
• Support billing, payments and insurance processing with accuracy.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to deliver quality care.
