Job summary

Buildability Group Professional Roles in Sydney is seeking a Maintenance Officer for a dedicated residential apartment building. You will own day-to-day maintenance across Mascot, Waterloo and Macquarie Park properties, with Monday–Friday hours and a stable weekday schedule.

You’ll respond to resident requests, perform preventative and reactive maintenance, inspect the building, and coordinate with licensed contractors while maintaining high presentation standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential building maintenance or facilities maintenance.
• Hands-on maintenance with pride in high-quality environments.
• Ability to communicate with residents, contractors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Respond to resident and building maintenance requests.
• Complete preventative and reactive maintenance works.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Maintenance Officer / Building Maintenance Technician to join a leading residential property organisation.

This role is ideal for a practical, hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys variety, autonomy and taking pride in maintaining a high-quality residential environment.
You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and presentation of a dedicated residential apartment building, working closely with the Building Management team to ensure residents enjoy a safe, functional and well‑maintained property.Why This Role?

• $80,000 + Super
• Permanent full-time position
• Monday to Friday working hours
• Choice of working hours:
  • 7:00am – 3:00pm
  • 8:00am – 4:00pm
• No rotating roster
• Dedicated building responsibility

About the Role As the dedicated Maintenance Officer, you will take ownership of day‑to‑day maintenance requirements across the residential building.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Responding to resident and building maintenance requests
• Completing preventative and reactive maintenance works
• Conducting regular building inspections
• Maintaining common areas and ensuring high presentation standards
• Painting and patching
• Silicone and sealing works
• Door, lock and hardware repairs
• Blinds and fixtures
• Investigating and assisting with water leaks and general building defects
• Installing, removing and replacing appliances when required
• Coordinating specialist contractors where licensed works are required
• Ordering materials and assisting with repair quotations
• Maintaining accurate records of works completed
• Identifying preventative maintenance requirements before issues become larger problems

About You We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys being the person residents and the Building Management team can rely on.
You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in residential building maintenance, facilities maintenance or a similar role
• Experience working within apartment buildings, hotels, retirement living or residential property environments highly regarded
• Strong handyman skills across general building repairs
• Experience with:
  • Painting
  • Plastering
  • Minor plumbing
  • General repairs
  • Building upkeep
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Professional communication skills when dealing with residents, contractors and stakeholders
• Understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices
