Job summary

Meriton is seeking a competent Handy Person / Maintenance Officer to support building management across completed apartments in the Sydney Waterloo/Alexandria area. You will manage maintenance tasks, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate with licensed contractors when needed.

You will perform minor repairs, inspections, and appliances servicing while maintaining tenant privacy and a courteous, professional approach on site. A full-time role with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience on large residential buildings.
• Understanding of apartment building operations.

• WH S and safe work methods.

Responsibilities

• Support the Building Manager in addressing maintenance across the building and apartments.
• Own general maintenance tasks to a high standard and safety.
• Perform tiling, painting, plasterboard repairs, silicone application, drains, taps, handles, handrails, blinds.
• Investigate and repair internal and external water leaks.
• Install, remove and replace household appliances as required.
• Conduct weekly and monthly building inspections.
• Order materials and obtain quotes for larger repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organised workshop and record actions in the system.
• Refer specialized work to licensed contractors.
• Provide courteous service while in occupied apartments and protect tenant privacy.
• Identify preventative maintenance and report emerging issues.

Meriton is looking for acompetent Handy Person / Maintenance Officer to work in one of ourcompleted apartments.

We currently have a vacancy in the Sydney: Waterloo / Alexandria area.

You will be responsible for:

Supporting the Building Manager in addressing maintenance requirements across the building and residential apartments

Taking ownership of general repairs and maintenance matters, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard

Performing a range of general maintenance tasks, including minor tiling, painting, plasterboard repairs, silicone application, clearing blocked drains, repairing dripping taps, and fixing handles, handrails and blinds

Investigating and repairing internal and external water leaks

Installing, removing and replacing household appliances when required

Conducting weekly and monthly building inspections in accordance with company procedures

Ordering materials and obtaining quotations for larger or specialised repairs

Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked workshop

Recording maintenance requests, work completed, materials used and outstanding actions in the relevant company system

Referring electrical, plumbing, fire-safety and other specialist work to appropriately qualified or licensed contractors

Providing courteous and respectful service while working in occupied apartments and maintaining tenant privacy

Identifying preventative maintenance requirements and reporting emerging issues before they become major repairs

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

• Previous experience on large residential buildings, with a good understanding on apartment buildings operate
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• General knowledge on minor electrical, painting, basic repairs and plumbing issues.
• Attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised
• Knowledge of WHS and safe work methods
• Willingness and pride to execute all tasks to the Meriton Standard
• A friendly, professional approach to tenants, guests and Meriton staff members, while carrying out your daily tasks is essential to your success in this role.
