Job summary

Collar Care BH in ACT is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer to join our established aged care team. You will perform preventative and reactive maintenance, care for buildings and equipment, and coordinate contractors to ensure a safe, functional living environment for residents, staff and visitors.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in general handyman or building maintenance, building trade qualifications or equivalent, knowledge of codes and WHS, and strong communication.

  • Building trade qualifications or equivalent maintenance knowledge.
  • Knowledge of building codes and WHS requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with residents, families, staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Completing preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Undertaking general handyman and building maintenance.
  • Maintaining property, buildings and equipment.
  • Responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors when required.
  • Identifying and escalating maintenance risks.
  • Supporting compliance with relevant standards and WHS requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records relating to maintenance, consumables and expenses.
  • Working collaboratively with staff, contractors, residents and families.
  • Responding to emergency maintenance requirements when required.

Maintenance Officer - ACT

Full-Time Opportunity | ACT

Collar Care is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to join a well-established aged care organisation in the ACT.

This is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the delivery of reactive and preventative maintenance, ensuring buildings, property and equipment are maintained to a high standard and that a safe environment is provided for residents, staff and visitors.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Completing preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Undertaking general handyman and building maintenance
  • Maintaining property, buildings and equipment

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • 3-5 years' experience in general handyman or building maintenance
  • Building trade qualifications or equivalent advanced maintenance knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards and general maintenance practices
  • Understanding of WHS requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills
  • The ability to work professionally with residents, families, staff and contractors
  • A genuine understanding and sensitivity towards working within a residential aged care environment

Aged care, retirement living or health experience is desirable.

  • Unrestricted full-time Australian work rights

  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Relevant maintenance/building experience
