Job summary

Aveo is seeking a Maintenance Gardener at Forest Grove Retirement Living, Brisbane. The role focuses on keeping homes and shared spaces safe, functional and well presented through repairs, gardening and general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents.

The ideal candidate has trade or strong domestic maintenance experience, is proactive and friendly, and will join a supportive community team to deliver quality care for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, facilities, groundskeeping or any trade-based role.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with ability to assess issues and take action.
• Clear and confident communication with residents.
• Valid driver’s licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and handyperson tasks (painting, hanging pictures, replacing washers, light fittings).
• Carry out gardening/landscaping tasks as needed.
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance across the community.
• Manage community tools and equipment for safety and organisation.
• Record maintenance activities and updates.
• Be a friendly, resident-facing presence within a supportive team.

The Opportunity

Forest Grove Retirement Living is a well-established community, nestled amongst 34 hectares of greenery and has a range of sought-after amenities including walking paths, a duck pond, tennis court, swimming pools, bowling green and much more. Joining our team as a Maintenance Gardener, you will play an important role within our community, ensuring that homes and shared spaces are safe, functional, and well presented. You’ll complete a range of maintenance tasks, from repairs to gardening and general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a trade background or strong domestic maintenance or gardening experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.

This is a permanent part-time position working Monday-Thursday 7.30-3pm

Your Impact

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks which may include items such as painting, picture hanging, replacing washers, and light replacements
• Complete adhoc gardening/landscaping tasks as needed
• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community
• Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose
• Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
• Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team
