Job summary

Aveo in Cleveland Heights is seeking a Maintenance Gardener to care for gardens, grounds and outdoor spaces within a retirement community. You will perform day-to-day gardening tasks and engage positively with residents to ensure safe, inviting surroundings.

We value practical gardening experience, a proactive approach, clear communication and a genuine commitment to resident wellbeing. A valid drivers license and COVID-19 vaccinations are required.

Qualifications

• Gardening or grounds experience with care for lawns, plants and irrigation systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage scheduled tasks.
• Clear and confident resident-facing communication.
• Commitment to safety and presenting a welcoming community space.
• A valid drivers license is essential.
• Minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations.

Responsibilities

• Garden and grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, hedging, mulching.
• Maintain safe, welcoming community spaces through consistent care.
• Check and maintain irrigation systems and sprinklers.
• Work autonomously while handling day-to-day gardening needs.
• Build strong relationships with residents and engage positively.
• Flexibly manage planned maintenance and ad hoc tasks.

The Opportunity

Cleveland Heights Retirement Living is an elevated bayside community designed for comfortable, connected living. Surrounded by coastal beauty and close to shopping, healthcare and transport, it offers ease and peace of mind. As a Maintenance Gardener, you will be play an important role within the community, ensuring gardens, grounds and outdoor areas are safe, well maintained and visually appealing. You’ll take care of day‑to‑day gardening and grounds maintenance tasks while engaging positively with residents. This role is ideal for someone with strong gardening experience who is friendly, proactive, and enjoys a varied, hands‑on role.

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday - Friday (7am-3pm)

Your Impact

• Strong practical experience in gardening and grounds maintenance, including mowing, pruning, hedging, mulching and green waste management
• The ability to maintain safe, welcoming community spaces through consistent care and upkeep
• An understanding of irrigation systems and external sprinklers, including routine checks and basic upkeep
• The ability to work autonomously, managing scheduled tasks while responding to day‑to‑day gardening needs
• Confidence building strong relationships with residents and engaging positively as part of daily work
• Flexibility to manage planned maintenance and ad hoc tasks as required

• Gardening or grounds experience, with a strong sense of pride and ownership in your work
• A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident‑friendly way
• A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
• A valid driver’s licence (essential)
• Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
