Job summary

Aveo Kingston Green Retirement Living in Cheltenham is seeking a Maintenance Gardener to care for gardens, grounds and outdoor spaces, ensuring safety and visual appeal while engaging positively with residents. The role is hands-on, focused on day-to-day gardening, mowing, pruning, irrigation checks, and supporting a vibrant retirement community.

This permanent part-time position runs Wednesday and Thursday, 7:30 am–3:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Gardening or grounds experience.
• Proactive and friendly approach with residents.
• Clear communication with residents and team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, grounds and outdoor areas to a high standard.
• Ensure communal outdoor spaces are clean, tidy and welcoming for residents and visitors.
• Carry out routine checks and basic upkeep of irrigation systems.
• Complete scheduled gardening tasks efficiently while responding to day-to-day grounds maintenance needs.
• Be a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working.
• Report any safety or maintenance concerns promptly.

The Opportunity

Kingston Green Retirement Living combines tranquillity and convenience, offering a vibrant retirement community set amongst manicured gardens and leafy surrounds in Cheltenham. Ideally located near major shopping, healthcare services, public transport, and recreational amenities, Kingston Green provides a comfortable and rewarding lifestyle for residents. As a Maintenance Gardener, you will play an important role within the community, ensuring gardens, grounds and outdoor areas are safe, well-maintained and visually appealing. You’ll take care of day‑to‑day gardening and grounds maintenance tasks while engaging positively with residents. This role is ideal for someone with strong gardening experience who is friendly, proactive, and enjoys a varied, hands‑on role.

This is a Permanent Part-Time role working Wednesday and Thursday (7:30am-3:30pm)

Your Impact

• Maintain gardens, grounds and outdoor areas to a high standard, including mowing, pruning, hedging, mulching and green waste management
• Ensure communal outdoor spaces are clean, tidy and welcoming for residents and visitors at all times
• Carry out routine checks and basic upkeep of irrigation systems and external sprinklers
• Complete scheduled gardening tasks efficiently while responding to day-to-day grounds maintenance needs
• Be a friendly and approachable presence for residents while going about daily work
• Report any safety or maintenance concerns in outdoor areas promptly to the Community Manager

• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident‑friendly way
• A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
