Job summary

Seeley International invites applications for a Day Shift Operator in the Chillcel department at our South Australian site. You will run assembly machines, bandsaws and robot cells to meet daily production targets, while upholding safety, quality and efficient workflows.

You will follow SOPs, perform quality checks and record data in Mattec, with training in 5S and continuous improvement. A strong hands-on approach and the ability to work independently or in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing experience, including working to production targets.
• Ability to work across multiple areas of the assembly process, alone or in a team.
• Confident reading and following written and verbal instructions and standards.
• Good manual dexterity with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Ability to learn quickly and work to tight cycle times with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S, and cost of waste, downtime, scrap and re-work.
• Genuine commitment to working safely and looking out for colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor assembly machines, robot cells and bandsaws to meet specs.
• Follow SOPs/PCPs to meet daily production schedules on time and in full.
• Carry out first-off and in-process quality checks with gauges and docs.
• Raise quality concerns and quarantine defective parts as needed.
• Record production and quality data in Mattec with proper login/logout.
• Clean and perform basic maintenance; report equipment faults.
• Work safely, report hazards and complete Process Training (PTPs).
• Apply 5S and continuous improvement ideas to daily work.
• Participate in Skills Matrix training to build department competency.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Day Shift Operator to join our Chillcel department. You will operate process equipment including manual bandsaws, assembly machines and robot cells to achieve daily production requirements, with safety, quality, packing and storage front of mind.

It is a hands-on role in a team environment, and you will also need to be confident working on your own and holding to the targets that have been set.

What you will be doing

• Operating and monitoring assembly machines, robot cells and manual bandsaws, adjusting machine controls to keep output to specification
• Working to SOPs and PCPs to meet daily production schedules on time and in full
• Carrying out first-off and in-process quality checks, using gauges and quality tools, and assessing product against supporting documentation and physical samples
• Raising quality concerns immediately with your leader and quarantining defective parts
• Recording production and quality data accurately in Mattec, including login, logout and time allocation
• Cleaning and carrying out basic maintenance of your work area and machinery, and reporting equipment faults to maintenance
• Working safely at all times, reporting hazards, and completing Process Training (PTPs) for your assembly processes
• Applying 5S and continuous improvement thinking to your daily work, and putting forward improvement ideas
• Participating in training against the Skills Matrix to build competency across the department

What you will bring

• Previous manufacturing experience, including working to production targets

Highly Regarded

• Experience working with robot automation
• Certificate III or IV in Competitive Manufacturing, or experience in a business with an established LEAN or Continuous Improvement program

• $31.623 per hour at Level S4 under the Seeley International SA Enterprise Agreement 2025, plus superannuation
• Paid rostered days off (RDOs) accrued under the Enterprise Agreement
