Job summary

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is seeking an Assistant Night Manager to lead the overnight team, ensuring a secure, seamless operation across Front Office, lobby, portering and in-room dining.

You will oversee the night audit in Opera PMS, balance transactions, handle overbookings and guest issues with courtesy, and coach the night staff to maintain Sofitel standards.

This role requires NSW RSA and First Aid, weekend availability, and a professional, calm demeanor in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• Front Office or Night Audit experience in a hotel, ideally luxury.
• Confident knowledge of night audit, cash handling, credit control and banking.
• Proficiency in Opera PMS or a similar property management system desirable.
• Experience leading a team overnight with limited senior support.
• Calm, professional approach to complaints and security incidents.
• Current NSW RSA and First Aid certificate (required).
• Excellent written and spoken English; a second language is an advantage.
• Availability for overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead the night: Run a safe, secure and seamless overnight operation, supervising the Night Auditor and team across Front Office, lobby, portering and in-room dining, and stepping in as the senior voice in the Night Manager’s absence.
• Own the numbers: Complete and oversee the night audit in Opera PMS, keeping every transaction balanced and finalised on time, with sound control of cash, credit and high-balance accounts.
• Make the tough calls: Handle overbookings, security incidents, intoxicated guests and complaints with sound judgement and empathy, turning difficult moments into service recovery wins.
• Be the face of the hotel after hours: Maintain a visible lobby presence, greet guests, inspect public areas and back of house, and keep the property running to Sofitel standards.
• Develop your team: Brief, coach and train night team members, and deliver a clear operational and financial handover to the day management team each morning.
