Job summary

Latrobe City Council in Morwell, Victoria, is seeking a Local Laws Officer - Traffic &Compliance to support education, guidance and enforcement of Local Laws. This full-time role involves community interaction, record-keeping and operating within a safety-focused municipal team in Gippsland.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and enforce relevant legislation, Local Laws and Council policies.
• Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with a commitment to customer-focused service delivery.
• Ability to undertake field-based work, including CBD parking patrols, and manage a variety of compliance matters.

• Participate in the emergency after-hours roster and undertake parking patrols and compliance activities across the municipality.

Permanent | Band 5 $80,810.26 - $92,898.75 plus 12% superannuation

We're looking for a Local Laws Officer - Traffic &Compliance to join our Local Laws team. In this role, you'll help enhancethe quality of life across Latrobe City by promoting community understanding,compliance and ownership of Council Local Laws and relevant legislation througheducation, engagement and professional enforcement activities.

About You

You are passionate about customer service and enjoy workingdirectly with people to achieve positive outcomes. You bring a balancedapproach to compliance, combining education, communication and sound judgementto resolve issues effectively.

You are highly organised, able to manage competingpriorities and comfortable working independently in the community. You enjoybuilding relationships, maintaining accurate records and applying legislationin a practical and professional manner.

Key Selection Criteria

• Demonstratedability to interpret, apply and enforce relevant legislation, Local Lawsand Council policies.
• Strongcommunication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with acommitment to customer-focused service delivery.
• Abilityto undertake field-based work, including CBD parking patrols, and manage avariety of compliance matters.
• Post-tradecertificate, post-secondary qualification, Certificate IV CivicCompliance, Certificate IV Animal Control and Regulation, or willingnessto undertake study to obtain relevant qualifications.
