Job summary

Mission Australia in Broken Hill is seeking a Lived Experience Recovery Case Worker to join the Community Living Support program. Use your recovery journey to inspire hope, build connections, and empower participants to live independently.

This role focuses on strengths-based, trauma-informed care, providing psychosocial support, planning, and coordination with families, clinicians, and community services to improve quality of life. Requirements include a Certificate IV and a valid licence.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery to support others.
• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work Support or willingness to obtain.
• Sound understanding of recovery-oriented, strengths-based, and trauma-informed practice.
• Demonstrated case management and support coordination skills.
• Ability to build authentic, trusting, and recovery-focused relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation and community-based supports.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries while effectively utilising lived experience.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Current Driver Licence.
• national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, professional, and trusting relationships with participants.
• Utilise your lived experience of recovery to inspire hope and model recovery.
• Deliver recovery-focused psychosocial support tailored to individual goals.
• Facilitate mutual planning sessions and develop individual support plans.
• Provide case management and care coordination to support holistic recovery outcomes.
• Support participants to strengthen independent living skills and confidence.
• Deliver psychoeducation and recovery-focused skill development.
• Support participants to access and navigate community, health, housing, employment, and social services.
• Foster social inclusion and meaningful community participation.
• Maintain effective communication with families, carers, clinical teams, and external stakeholders.
• Identify risks and implement appropriate responses in line with policies.
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation.
• Advocate for participant choice, self-determination, dignity, and inclusion.
