Job summary

St Joseph's Primary School, Charlestown, within Catholic Schools Office Maitland - Newcastle, seeks a permanent part-time Learning Support Teacher (K-6) to commence January 2027. The role focuses on inclusive education, collaboration with staff, and delivery of targeted interventions for students with diverse learning needs.

The position requires NSW teaching qualifications, Special Education expertise, and Accreditation.

Qualifications

• Must hold four-year teaching qualification and postgraduate qualification in Special Education or equivalent experience.
• Active NESA accreditation is required for teaching in NSW Catholic schools.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory.
• Completion of anaphylaxis and CPR training is required.
• Experience with students with disability (K-6) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Identify students with special educational needs and collaborate with parents, CSO staff and external providers.
• Deliver intervention and differentiate curriculum as specified by leaders of Learning Support.
• Design, implement, monitor and review adjustments via Personalised Plans (PP) or Learner Profiles (LP).
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other Learning Support staff.
• Contribute to staff professional development and parent education programs.
• Assist with documentation for legislation, privacy, and disability obligations including NCCD submissions.
