Job summary

Concept Management Group Australia is seeking a Leading Hand Boilermaker in NSW who will take ownership of day-to-day workshop builds while staying heavily involved in fabrication and welding. The role focuses on hands-on leadership rather than an office-based path.

You’ll lead a five-person team, allocate work, and ensure production flow with strong safety and quality standards. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity with OT availability.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Boilermaker/Fabricator with hands-on shop floor experience.
• Strong welding and fabrication capability.
• Experience leading a small workshop team on the floor.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead a five-person workshop team and manage workflow across the floor.
• Hands-on fabrication and welding as the primary activity.
• Allocate work, delegate priorities and keep builds moving toward deadlines.

Leading Hand Boilermaker

$55/hr + OT | 90% Hands-On | Lead a Crew of Five

Want more responsibility without getting dragged off the tools?

We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker to take ownership of day-to-day workshop builds while remaining heavily involved in fabrication and welding.

This is not a desk-based Workshop Manager role.

You’ll spend around 90% of your time on the tools, working alongside the team, with the balance focused on allocating builds, coordinating workflow and keeping production moving.

The Role

You’ll lead a small workshop team of approximately five people and take responsibility for how builds move through the floor.

Your day will include:

• Hands-on fabrication and welding
• Reading and interpreting detailed fabrication drawings
• Allocating work across the workshop team
• Delegating individual builds and priorities
• Keeping jobs moving against production deadlines
• Supporting tradespeople with technical issues
• Monitoring quality and workmanship
• Identifying issues before they impact production
• Working closely with management around workflow and priorities
• Maintaining strong workshop safety standards

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, practical and comfortable taking the lead on the floor.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Trade qualification as a Boilermaker / Fabricator
• Strong structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
• Confident drawing interpretation skills
• Strong welding and fabrication capability
• Leading Hand, Senior Boilermaker or supervisory experience
• Experience coordinating or directing a small team
• Good understanding of workshop workflow and build sequencing
• A hands-on leadership style

You do not need to be an experienced Workshop Manager.

This role could suit an existing Leading Hand or a Senior Boilermaker ready to step up without stepping away from the tools.
