Job summary

Hertz Australia is seeking a Leading Hand at Cairns Airport to deliver top-tier customer service and supervise a fast-paced fleet operation. You will ensure vehicle readiness, manage returns, and supervise the Wash and Turnaround area while supporting broader fleet needs across QLD locations. The role requires a full AU driver's license and willingness to work weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Drive productivity and maintain adequate vehicle supply in ready-to-rent condition.
• Manage all vehicle return operations with the location manager.
• Ensure SOPs are adhered to.
• Reconcile vehicle counts each shift and monitor fuel recoveries.
• Complete a weekly Physical Inventory of all company vehicles.
• Occasionally ferry passengers on a bus to/from the customer pickup at the Airport.
• Assist fleet requirements and movement with downtown networks.
• Support downtown networks with vehicle delivery and rentable condition.
• Protect and maintain company assets and equipment.
• Ferry, collect, deliver, refuel and audit vehicle cleanliness.

What is this role all about?

As a Leading Hand you will be responsible for the delivery of the highest level of customer service by providing fleet in line with business demand for the Airport location. You will also be responsible for the supervision of the Wash and Turnaround facility.

You will be based at Cairns and you may be required to work at other QLD locations within reasonable travel distance. Specific duties include:

• Drive productivity and company high standard of customer service and maintain adequate supply of vehicles in ready-to-rent area and in rentable condition
• Manage all vehicle return operations with location manager
• Ensure company standard operating procedures are adhered to
• Ensure vehicle counts are reconciled at every shift and monitor & control re-fuelling activities to ensure maximum fuel recoveries
• Complete a Physical Inventory weekly of all Company Vehicles for Asset Control purposes
• On occasions be required to ferry passengers on a passenger bus to and from the a customer pick up point at the Airport
• Assist fleet requirements and movement with downtown networks.
• Support the downtown networks with delivery of vehicles and ensure vehicles in a rentable condition.
• Protect and maintain company assets and equipment.
• Ferry, collect, deliver, re-fuel and audit vehicle cleanliness.

What do we need from you?

To be successful in this position, our new team member will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Ability to supervise a team in a high-volume business (previous experience preferred).
• Initiative and desire to drive execution
• Flexibility of working hours (7day shift work including weekends and public holidays may apply).
• You must hold a full and current AU driver's license with the ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
