Job summary

Neumann Steel in Brisbane, a long-established family-owned steel fabrication business, is seeking a hands-on shop floor supervisor to lead the production team on-site. You will interpret engineering drawings, coordinate daily tasks, and partner with the Production Manager to hit daily targets in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Supervise, mentor, and coordinate daily tasks for the production team on the shop floor.

This position involves a combination of shop floor leadership, task coordination, interpreting engineering drawings, and providing hands-on support with complex steel fabrication tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and coordinate daily tasks for the production team on the shop floor.
• Read and interpret detailed structural and mechanical engineering drawings.
• Ensure quality control procedures are followed to meet AS/NZS standards.
• Promote and uphold a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, hazard identification, and proper use of PPE, cranes, and forklifts.

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualification as a Boilermaker, Welder, or Fitter & Turner (Cert III or above).
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a heavy manufacturing or steel workshop environment.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Current Forklift licence (LF) and experience operating overhead cranes; rigging or dogman tickets are advantageous.
