Job summary

Neumann Steel is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator to uphold a robust safety culture across our sites in Queensland and New South Wales. You will lead inspections, investigations, training, PTW reviews, and incident reporting, ensuring compliance with WHS laws and ISO standards while engaging with workers and management to improve safety performance.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in WHS, or a Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
• 2–3 years HSE experience in construction, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
• Knowledge of Australian WHS laws, codes of practice, and ISO 45001/ ISO 14001.
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and compliance walkthroughs.
• Incident Management: Lead or assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and tracking of corrective actions.
• Training and Induction: Deliver engaging safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing HSE awareness training for staff and contractors.
• Permit to Work (PTW): Review, monitor, and audit high-risk work permits (e.g., heights, hot work, confined spaces).
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate HSE records, incident registers, training logs, and monthly safety reports.
• Emergency Preparedness: Assist in coordinating site emergency drills, fire warden duties, and first aid readiness.

• Education: Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or a Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years' practical HSE experience within construction, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
• Regulatory Knowledge: A sound understanding of Australian WHS laws, codes of practice, and ISO standards (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001).
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills to influence both workers and management.
• Licences: Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and White Card (General Construction Induction).
