Job summary

Grunske’s by the River in Bundaberg East is seeking a qualified Chef to join our kitchen team. This full-time role requires pride in consistent food quality, professional kitchen practices and excellent customer service.

The position offers 38 ordinary hours per week with an annual salary of $79,500–$85,000 plus superannuation, depending on qualifications and experience. Sponsorship may be considered for a suitable candidate subject to immigration rules.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management or equivalent required.
• At least two years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, stock control and kitchen operations.
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain quality during busy service periods.
• Roster includes weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes consistently and to a high standard.
• Contribute to menu planning, recipe development and food costing.
• Estimate ingredient requirements, order supplies and manage stock rotation.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes, storage temperatures and waste.
• Maintain food safety, allergen management and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Coordinate food preparation and service with the kitchen and front‑of‑house teams.
• Guide and train junior kitchen staff as required.
