Job summary

Australian Payments Plus is seeking a Lead Business Analyst to guide analysis across major initiatives, lead a team of BAs, and translate complex business needs into practical solutions.

You’ll collaborate across business and technology teams to shape requirements, governance, and delivery. The role emphasizes coaching, capability development, and maintaining high-quality artefacts within AP+'s payments ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive business analysis experience on complex initiatives.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small team of business analysts.
• Strong skills in business situation analysis, feasibility assessment, business case development and requirements management.
• Confidence modelling business processes and data, and translating findings into clear recommendations.
• Experience supporting user acceptance testing and assessing whether solutions meet business needs.
• Collaborative stakeholder engagement, facilitation and decision-making.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery practices.
• Experience with Jira.
• A degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of payments technology or financial services is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis across the project lifecycle, including feasibility assessments and scoping.
• Guide requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, prioritisation and management.
• Develop and oversee business process and data models that support sound decisions and effective solutions.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, bringing different perspectives together and resolving competing priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, assess risks and recommend options that support business goals.
• Communicate findings, progress and recommendations clearly to business and technology audiences.
• Maintain the quality and consistency of the team’s analysis deliverables.
• Coach and mentor business analysts, supporting their performance and professional growth.
• Contribute to the wider Business Analysis community through thought leadership and continuous improvement of methods and standards.
