Job summary

Australian Payments Plus (AP+) is recruiting a Lead Business Analyst to guide analysis across major initiatives and develop a team of business analysts. You will turn complex business needs into practical solutions and ensure high-quality analysis artefacts for governance and delivery.

You will shape requirements, collaborate across business and technology teams, and mentor analysts to drive best practice and continuous improvement across AP+.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive business analysis experience on complex initiatives.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small team of business analysts.
• Strong skills in business situation analysis, feasibility assessment, business case development and requirements management.
• Confidence modelling business processes and data, and translating findings into clear recommendations.
• Experience supporting user acceptance testing and assessing whether solutions meet business needs.
• A collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, facilitation and decision-making.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery practices.
• Experience with delivery tools such as Jira.
• A degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of payments technology, IT systems or financial services will be highly regarded.

Lead Business Analyst

We're looking for a Lead Business Analyst to guide analysis across key initiatives, lead and develop a team of business analysts, and help turn complex business needs into practical solutions.

The opportunity

You'll lead a team of business analysts allocated across a range of projects, conducting regular check ins and quarterly reviews, and providing coaching and mentoring to drive best practice and consistency across the team.

As an active member of the Business Analysis Community of Practice (CoP), you will contribute to capability development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the broader BA function.

You will also ensure that business analysis artefacts are of a high quality, meet delivery and governance standards, and deliver meaningful value.

Finally, you will be involved in business analysis tasks ranging from early investigation and scoping through to delivery. Working closely with stakeholders across the business and technology teams, you'll clarify priorities, shape requirements and recommendations.

What you'll do:

• Work closely with the Delivery Lead and Project Managers to ensure business analysis activities support project delivery.
• Lead analysis across the project lifecycle, including business cases, feasibility assessments, impact analysis and project scoping.
• Guide requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, prioritisation and management through delivery and into operations.
• Develop and oversee business process, data and other models that support sound decisions and effective solutions.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, bringing different perspectives together and resolving competing priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, assess risks and recommend options that support business goals.
• Communicate findings, progress and recommendations clearly to business and technology audiences.
• Maintain the quality and consistency of the team's analysis deliverables.
• Coach and mentor business analysts, supporting their performance and professional growth.
• Contribute to the wider Business Analysis community through thought leadership and continuous improvement of methods and standards.

What you'll bring:
