Job summary

Dusty Fabrications Pty Ltd in Queanbeyan East NSW is seeking a reliable Laser Production Assistant / Forklift Operator to support the laser production team. You will assist with loading and unloading, clean and check laser-cut components, operate a forklift, and help with routine maintenance and order preparation for dispatch.

The role emphasises accurate work, safety, and teamwork in a busy workshop. Training will be provided for CNC laser processes and equipment.

Qualifications

• A current forklift licence and practical forklift operating experience.
• Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role safely, including regular manual handling and standing for long periods.
• Good attention to detail, particularly when counting, checking and labelling parts.
• Basic numeracy and confidence completing records and using simple computer systems.
• Reliability and punctuality; willingness to follow instructions and ask questions when unsure.
• Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, warehousing or dispatch is useful.
• Previous CNC laser experience is welcome but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assisting operators with loading sheet, plate, tube and pipe onto the laser system and unloading cut components.
• Cleaning and deburring laser-cut parts to required quality standards.
• Counting, sorting, identifying and labelling components against job requirements.
• Checking parts for visible defects and reporting quality concerns.
• Packing and protecting finished components for collection or delivery.
• Operating a forklift to load and unload delivery trucks and move materials safely around the workshop.
• Checking incoming deliveries against paperwork and reporting shortages or damage.
• Keeping accurate records of materials, quantities, completed work and dispatch activities.
• Assisting laser operators with routine laser maintenance, checks and equipment care under direction.

Laser Production Assistant / Forklift Operator

Dusty Fabrications Pty Ltd – Queanbeyan East NSW

Dusty Fabrications is growing its laser production team and looking for a reliable, hands-on person to help keep materials and finished parts moving through our workshop. Working alongside our Laser Manager and operators, you'll assist with loading and unloading, cleaning and checking laser-cut components, forklift operations, routine equipment maintenance and preparing orders for dispatch. This is an active workshop role involving regular parts cleaning, material handling and standing throughout the day. You'll need to take pride in accurate work, follow instructions and work safely alongside others.

Key responsibilities

About you

A current forklift licence and practical forklift operating experience

Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role safely, including regular manual handling, parts cleaning and extended periods of standing

Good attention to detail, particularly when counting, checking and labelling parts

Basic numeracy and confidence completing records and using simple computer systems

Reliability, punctuality and a willingness to follow instructions and ask questions when unsure

A practical approach, willingness to learn and ability to work cooperatively in a busy team

Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, warehousing or dispatch would be useful

Previous CNC laser experience is welcome but isn't essential—we'll provide training in our processes and equipment
