Job summary

Unknown is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Cutting Operator to join our Melbourne manufacturing facility. You will independently set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to manufacture precision sheet metal components, ensuring designs and specifications are met with high quality.

You will read engineering drawings, select cutting parameters for different materials, and perform first-off inspections while maintaining an orderly, safe work area. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience operating CNC laser cutting machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with CNC nesting and laser programming is advantageous.
• Experience with CNC tube laser cutting is advantageous.

A leading Australian manufacturer specialising in custom sheet metal fabrication and precision CNC machining for over 35 years is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Cutting Operator to join our team.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Laser Cutting Operator capable of independently setting up and operating CNC laser cutting machines to manufacture precision sheet metal components.

The successful applicant must have strong knowledge of laser cutting processes, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to produce high-quality components to engineering drawings and specifications.

Experience operating CNC tube laser cutting machines will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines

• Load, adjust and optimise CNC cutting programs and machine parameters

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions

• Select appropriate cutting parameters for different materials and thicknesses

• Cut a wide range of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium

• Perform first-off inspections and ongoing dimensional and quality checks

• Monitor cutting quality, dimensional accuracy and machine performance

• Troubleshoot cutting issues and optimise machine efficiency

• Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance

• Maintain accurate production records and follow company quality procedures

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating CNC laser cutting machines

• Proven ability to independently set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment

• Experience with CNC tube laser cutting machines is highly advantageous

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

• Sound knowledge of laser cutting parameters, materials and cutting processes

• Experience with CNC laser nesting and programming software is advantageous

• Ability to use measuring equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Experience working in a precision sheet metal manufacturing environment is highly advantageous
