Job description

This well-regarded, customer-focused organisation has built a strong reputation over many decades through its commitment to service excellence, employee wellbeing and long-term sustainable outcomes. Operating within a highly regulated environment, the organisation combines the governance, discipline and professionalism of a larger enterprise with the agility, accessibility and collaborative culture of a mid-sized employer.

The organisation is recognised for its inclusive and down-to‑earth culture, supportive leadership team and genuine commitment to leadership and their people development. People are encouraged to contribute ideas, take ownership, work collaboratively and help shape practical solutions that deliver measurable business value.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of L&OD, this newly created 12-month maximum term contract has been created with a focus on investing in raising capability across leaders, enhancing processes, frameworks and systems as way of positively building more contemporary L&OD initiatives, on what is already a highly engaged and high-performing culture.

This role will play a critical part in translating the L&OD set priorities into practical initiatives that improve capability, leadership effectiveness, performance outcomes and employee experience. Working closely with the broader People and Culture team, senior leaders, managers, subject matter experts and external providers, you will help shape and deliver a broad portfolio of programs across performance, leadership, talent, learning and workforce capability.

Key areas of focus are expected to include performance and accountability frameworks, leadership and manager capability, talent and career development, skills and capability frameworks, onboarding experiences, learning technology enhancements, modern learning solutions and workforce readiness for emerging technologies, including AI.

About You

You are an experienced L&OD specialist with strong expertise across organisational development, learning and development, workforce capability, talent and performance, ideally from banking, finance or insurance, or similar regulated industries.

You are known for your ability to convert broad plans, in an evolving corporate environment, into practical, achievable solutions. You bring demonstrated experience leading end-to-end capability or organisational development programmes within complex organisations and have a strong understanding of contemporary approaches to performance, leadership, learning and employee growth.

You are confident and credible at stakeholder engagement and can influence at all levels, from executive leaders through to operational managers and specialist teams. You enjoy solving problems, navigating ambiguity and creating fit‑for‑purpose solutions that balance organisational needs with commercial realities.

To be successful, you will ideally bring
  • Significant experience across organisational development, capability, talent, learning and performance disciplines.
  • Proven success delivering organisation-wide change, capability or people initiatives from concept through to implementation.
  • Strong understanding of performance management, accountability frameworks, leadership development, career pathways, talent management and workforce capability.
  • Experience designing engaging and contemporary learning experiences that support participation, application and behavioural change.
  • Strong consulting, facilitation, stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and executive stakeholders to secure commitment and drive adoption.
  • Knowledge of HR, learning or employee experience systems and platforms, ideally including exposure to HRIS, LMS and engagement technologies.
  • An interest in AI, workforce transformation and future capability requirements.
  • Experience working within banking, finance, superannuation, insurance or similar regulated, compliance-focused corporate environments will be highly regarded.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Psychology, Learning and Development, Business or a related discipline will be viewed favourably.
Additional Requirements/Benefits

This opportunity offers the chance to join a highly respected organisation during an exciting period of transformation and capability investment. The position offers:

  • Up to approximately $170,000 base salary plus superannuation.
  • 12-month maximum term employment contract with potential future opportunities subject to organisational needs.
  • Hybrid working model with approximately 2 days per week in the office and the balance working remotely.
  • Exposure to senior leaders and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • A supportive and collaborative People and Culture team.
  • The opportunity to shape the future of organisational capability, learning, leadership and performance practices.
  • A values-driven and people-focused workplace culture.
Why Apply?

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced learning and organisational development, capability and performance specialist seeking a genuine enterprise role where they can make a visible and lasting impact.

You will join an organisation known for its supportive culture, collaborative leadership team and commitment to employee growth. The breadth of this role offers significant variety, strategic influence and hands‑on delivery responsibility, making it ideal for a practitioner who enjoys turning ideas into outcomes and helping organisations build stronger capability for the future.
