Job summary

RSK Group, in collaboration with Binnies Australia, invites applications for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Brisbane or Perth. You will assist mechanical design for treatment plants, pump stations and pipework, and gain supervised project delivery experience.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, perform basic calculations, prepare equipment data sheets and drawings, coordinate with CAD/BIM designers, and contribute to safety in

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Water- or wastewater-sector experience mandatory.
• Typically 1–3 years of early career experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and P&ID.
• Ability to carry out basic engineering calculations and use Excel.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, asset records and vendor information; assist site surveys.
• Undertake supervised pipework loss calculations and pump duties.
• Assist with pump, valve, screens, and sludge equipment selection.
• Prepare equipment data sheets and schedules; align with processes.
• Assist CAD/BIM designers with layouts and pipework coordination.
• Coordinate interfaces with process, civil, structural, electrical, and controls.
• Support vendor document reviews and construction queries; attend inspections.
• Participate in safety in design and project reviews; track progress.
