You will work with multidisciplinary teams and draw on Binnies and RSK specialists, including colleagues in other offices, to support studies, design and construction delivery.

The role supports direct client commissions and contractor-led design and construct projects. Work includes coordination with suppliers, operators and delivery partners, with site visits and travel as required by the assignment.

Role Responsibilities
  • Define the mechanical scope, design basis, deliverables, interfaces, resources and budget for assigned packages. Plan reviews and manage delivery against programme and fee.

  • Prepare and review pump duty and system calculations, equipment specifications, valve schedules, layouts and pipework designs; coordinate surge, stress or other specialist analyses where required.
  • Direct designers and engineers, allocate work to suit competence, check technical outputs and resolve interfaces with process, civil, structural, electrical and automation teams.
  • Plan brownfield tie-ins and staged upgrades with operators and contractors, addressing isolation, maintainability, lifting, equipment removal and continuity of service.
  • Lead mechanical input to safety in design, constructability and operability reviews; contribute to HAZOP and ensure assigned risks and actions are resolved or clearly handed over.
  • Manage technical interfaces with suppliers and contractors, evaluate bids and vendor submissions, and resolve construction queries within the agreed scope and authority.
  • Support factory and site testing, installation inspections, commissioning and defect resolution. Maintain traceable decisions and clear acceptance recommendations.
