Job summary

You will translate complex technical information into practical training materials, work instructions and guides, collaborating with technical SMEs, business analysts and developers to ensure accessibility and readability across multiple workstreams.

Qualifications

Our client is seeking an experienced Trainer to join a large-scale technology transformation program, developing clear, practical learning resources to support the implementation of new operational systems and ways of working.

Working closely with technical SMEs, business analysts, developers and change professionals, you’ll turn complex technical information into engaging training materials and work instructions that help operational teams confidently use new systems.

The Opportunity

You’ll join a training team supporting a portfolio of technology and operational change initiatives, including the implementation of a next-generation Energy Management System. With training delivery underway, the focus is on rapidly developing and maintaining high-quality learning content, user guides and operational support documentation in collaboration with technical specialists.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain training materials, system user guides, work instructions, process flows and quick reference guides.
• Translate complex technical information from user stories, technical documentation, Azure DevOps wikis and SME discussions into clear, practical learning resources.
• Work closely with technical SMEs, developers, business analysts and training analysts to understand new systems and operational processes.
• Apply instructional design and adult learning principles to create effective training content for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Prepare training content for face-to-face delivery, online learning and self-service access.
• Support train-the-trainer activities, business trainers and post-go-live education and reinforcement.
• Maintain documentation through project sprints and product increments, ensuring content remains accurate and up to date.
• Ensure learning resources meet accessibility, readability and documentation standards.

You’re an experienced technical trainer, training developer or technical writer who can quickly understand complex systems and turn technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.

About You

• Demonstrated experience developing training content and support documentation for complex software systems.
• Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to interpret information from technical documentation, user stories and subject matter experts.
• A sound understanding of instructional design and adult learning principles.
• Experience producing work instructions, user guides, quick reference guides, process documentation or similar learning resources.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to tailor content to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills, with familiarity with Azure DevOps, Confluence or similar platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage documentation across multiple workstreams and delivery timelines.
• A collaborative approach and confidence working with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Experience within energy, utilities or operational technology is essential, including exposure to SCADA, EMS or similar control systems. Experience supporting engineering-intensive projects or operational technology programs will be highly regarded.

A relevant tertiary qualification in technical communication, IT, computer science, engineering or a related field is desirable, alongside relevant training content development and delivery experience.
