Job summary

North West Queensland Indigenous Community Social Services Ltd. in Mount Isa is seeking a casual Care Worker for the Arthur Petersen Diversionary Centre (APDC). The role provides social and personal support to clients, helping maintain a safe, respectful and trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy including data entry and reporting.
• Understanding of privacy and confidentiality principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Respectful, non-judgemental and client-focused approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including afternoon, night and weekend shifts.
• Current National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful and culturally appropriate care and support to clients.
• Monitor client wellbeing and safety during stay at APDC.
• Assist clients with personal and support needs.
• Maintain a safe, secure and supportive environment.
• Complete client records and documentation accurately.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Identify client needs and referrals to relevant services.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and external service providers.
• Follow APDC policies, procedures, safety requirements and reporting processes.
• Support the team with other duties relevant to the operation of the service.
