Job summary

UnitingCare's Cape York Family Centre in Cooktown is hiring a Casual Site Support Worker for the Pinangba service. The role focuses on safety and security, especially during nights and weekends, while supporting residents in a rehabilitation setting.

Responsibilities include perimeter checks, assisting with daily operations, and maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries as part of our BlueCare family within UnitingCare.

Qualifications

• Current First Aid and CPR Qualifications or ability to acquire.
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.
• Sound computer skills - ability to read and send emails, operate on-line training modules.
• Sound written communication skills - ability to record observations, incidents and hazards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain site safety and security by undertaking perimeter checks hourly or as frequently as directed.
• Undertake an afternoon lockdown check of buildings and motor vehicles.
• Monitor the service to ensure that clients and visitors are not bringing or using contraband on-site and are not attending site under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
• Ensure clients are following the rules of the service and role model this behaviour.
• De-escalate client disagreements or conflict (with support from on-call or management as necessary).
• Respond to emergency situations and call Ambulance, Fire, Police where necessary and with assistance from Manager and/or On-call and documenting in Site Support Worker book or via email.
