Job summary

St Paul’s Primary School, Gateshead, part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, invites a Learning Support Teacher (K-6) to join our Catholic school community from January 2027. The role is permanent part-time (0.4FTE) with an additional 0.2FTE temporary duty for 12 months.

You will identify and support students with disability, deliver interventions, and collaborate with teachers and parents to develop Personalised Plans and Learner Profiles, under the supervision of the Leader of Learning

Qualifications

• Clearly articulate commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church.
• Experience with students with disability (K-6).
• Ability to collaborate with school staff, CSO staff and external stakeholders to achieve educational outcomes.
• Experience delivering professional learning for staff and parents.
• Ability to gather and utilise assessment data to determine adjustments for students.
• Collaboratively prepare Personalised Plans and Learner Profiles for students with disability.
• Experience supporting enrolment and transitions.
• Working knowledge of Disability legislation and the NCCD.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with identifying students with special educational needs and coordinate with parents and staff.
• Deliver intervention, teach students, and assist curriculum differentiation as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers to design, implement, monitor and review adjustments in PP/LP.
• Work with other Learning Support personnel.
• Contribute to staff professional development and parent education programs.
• Liaise with schools during transition periods.
• Prepare documentation under privacy, confidentiality and disability obligations, including NCCD submissions.
• Support development of inclusive learning environments.
• Assist in implementing programs to support students with disability and building staff capacity.
