Job summary

Officer Specialist School in Melbourne's Cardinia/Casey area is seeking a dedicated classroom teacher to support students aged 5–18 with intellectual disabilities. Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of initiatives in student learning including the Victorian Curriculum and the capacity to implement curriculum programs.
• Demonstrated high-level classroom teaching skills and the ability to work with colleagues to improve teaching and learning.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and use student learning data to inform teaching.
• Strong written and verbal communication and high level interpersonal skills including the ability to develop constructive relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning and active participation in a broad range of school activities.
• Ability to plan for and monitor a suitable educational program to meet the needs of students with intellectual disability and other complex learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.
• Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or program.
• Undertake other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.
• Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
• Undertake other non-teaching supervisory duties.
