Analyse, diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network, system and application issues affecting users and business operations. Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, printers, servers, network equipment, operating systems and business applications. Investigate recurring ICT faults and system performance issues, identify root causes and implement appropriate corrective solutions.
Install, configure, maintain and support computer hardware, operating systems, software applications and associated ICT infrastructure. Monitor ICT systems and networks to identify performance, availability, capacity and security issues. Assist with administration and maintenance of servers, networks, user accounts, access permissions, email systems and cloud-based services.
Test new and modified ICT systems, applications, software releases and infrastructure changes before implementation. Develop and execute system and application test plans, test cases and testing procedures to identify errors, defects and performance issues. Document testing outcomes, technical faults and system defects and coordinate corrective action where required.
Verify that repaired, upgraded or newly implemented systems operate correctly and meet operational requirements. Provide technical advice regarding ICT system improvements, upgrades and technology solutions. Assist with the implementation, integration and deployment of new ICT systems and applications.
Maintain appropriate system configurations, technical documentation, asset records, troubleshooting procedures and support records. Apply appropriate backup, recovery, cybersecurity and access-control procedures to protect organisational information and ICT resources. Investigate security-related technical issues and escalating significant incidents where appropriate.
Liaise with software vendors, telecommunications providers and external ICT service providers to resolve technical problems. Provide technical assistance and guidance to College staff regarding the effective use of ICT systems and applications. Prioritise and manage support requests and ensure technical issues are resolved within appropriate service timeframes.
Participate in ICT projects, including system upgrades, infrastructure improvements, migrations and implementation of new technologies. Conduct regular system checks, preventative maintenance and performance reviews to improve ICT reliability. Recommend practical improvements to ICT infrastructure, systems, processes and technical support procedures.
Ensure ICT activities comply with organisational policies, privacy requirements, cybersecurity practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate should demonstrate: Strong knowledge of ICT systems, computer hardware, operating systems, networks and software applications.
Advanced troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills. Ability to diagnose complex system, network, hardware and software faults. Knowledge of system and application testing methodologies.
Ability to prepare and execute test plans, test cases and technical testing procedures. Understanding of network configuration, connectivity, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and related technologies. Experience with user-account administration, permissions and access-control systems.
Understanding of cloud-based platforms and modern ICT environments. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, system security, backups and disaster-recovery practices. Ability to monitor system performance and identify technical risks and areas for improvement.
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users. Strong organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritise multiple technical issues.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management, employees, vendors and external ICT providers.
The preferred candidate should possess a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a closely related ICT discipline , together with relevant professional experience.
