Job summary

Ransford College PLC is seeking an ICT Support and Test Engineer in Melbourne to ensure reliable ICT operations across the college. You will resolve incidents, test changes, enhance performance and manage documentation and assets.

The role combines hands-on hardware/software support with rigorous testing and project involvement in a dynamic education environment. A relevant ICT qualification and experience are required, with a focus on security and disaster recovery.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification plus professional experience in ICT.

About the role

The ICT Support and Test Engineer will contribute to the reliable and continuous operation of the College's ICT environment, timely resolution of technical incidents and system faults, effective testing and implementation of ICT changes, improved system performance, security and reliability, accurate technical documentation and ICT asset management, reduced disruption to academic and administrative operations, and continuous improvement of the College's ICT infrastructure and support processes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network, system and application issues affecting users and business operations.
• Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, printers, servers, network equipment, operating systems and business applications.
• Investigate recurring ICT faults and system performance issues, identify root causes and implement appropriate corrective solutions.
• Install, configure, maintain and support computer hardware, operating systems, software applications and associated ICT infrastructure.
• Monitor ICT systems and networks to identify performance, availability, capacity and security issues.
• Test new and modified ICT systems, applications, software releases and infrastructure changes before implementation.
• Develop and execute system and application test plans, test cases and testing procedures to identify errors, defects and performance issues.
• Document testing outcomes, technical faults and system defects and coordinate corrective action where required.
• Maintain appropriate system configurations, technical documentation, asset records, troubleshooting procedures and support records.
• Participate in ICT projects, including system upgrades, infrastructure improvements, migrations and implementation of new technologies.

Skills and Competencies Required

• Strong knowledge of ICT systems, computer hardware, operating systems, networks and software applications.
• Advanced troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to diagnose complex system, network, hardware and software faults.
• Knowledge of system and application testing methodologies.
• Ability to prepare and execute test plans, test cases and technical testing procedures.
• Understanding of network configuration, connectivity, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and related technologies.
• Experience with user-account administration, permissions and access-control systems.
• Understanding of cloud-based platforms and modern ICT environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, system security, backups and disaster-recovery practices.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a closely related ICT discipline, together with relevant professional experience.
