Job summary

InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef is seeking a Housekeeping Shift Manager on Hayman Island to lead a dedicated team in a luxury resort environment. You will manage daily housekeeping and laundry activities, ensure top-tier room presentation, and mentor colleagues to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

Ideal applicants have prior housekeeping leadership in a hotel or resort, strong attention to detail, and the ability to motivate a diverse team.

Qualifications

• At least one year of housekeeping leadership experience as a Supervisor, Team Leader or similar.
• Hotel or resort experience, luxury experience welcomed.
• Motivate a diverse team with constructive feedback and performance management.
• Strong attention to detail and guest satisfaction commitment.
• Good communication and organisational skills in a busy environment.
• Positive, practical attitude and team collaboration.
• Experience with HUB and Opera OMS; rostering or labour management is an advantage.
• Must meet physical requirements (standing, walking, lifting 15–20 kg).
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or visa with ongoing working rights.

We are looking for a Housekeeping Shift Manager who takes pride in exceptional presentation, enjoys bringing out the best in people and leads by example.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Coordinating daily housekeeping and laundry activities, allocating tasks and adapting to changing priorities.

Inspecting guest rooms and public areas to maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation.

Coaching and developing colleagues through practical training, clear feedback and recognition.

Working closely with Front Office, Engineering and other departments to support room readiness and resolve guest requests.

Assisting with rostering, staffing allocation and departmental productivity.

Maintaining safe working practices, accurate records and appropriate lost property procedures.

For colleagues who demonstrate strong performance and readiness for greater responsibility, there is the opportunity to develop towards an Assistant Housekeeping Manager role, subject to future vacancies.

To be successful in this full-time role, you’ll have:

At least one year of housekeeping leadership experience as a Supervisor, Team Leader or in a similar role.

Experience within a hotel or resort, with luxury experience welcomed.

The confidence to motivate a diverse team, provide constructive feedback and address performance concerns.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Good communication skills and the ability to stay organised in a busy environment.

A positive, practical attitude and willingness to work alongside your team.

Confidence using Microsoft Office and learning operational systems. Experience with HUB and Opera OMS, rostering or labour management is an advantage.

The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, bending and safely handling items weighing up to approximately 15 to 20 kg.

Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a visa with ongoing working rights suitable for this permanent position. Working Holiday visas are not suitable for this opportunity.
