Job summary

voco Melbourne Central is seeking a hands-on HR Coordinator for a part-time fixed-term maternity cover. You will support recruitment, onboarding and HR administration while working onsite three days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays) from 1 December 2026 to 12 September 2027.

Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll handle HR tasks, payroll support, and compliance under the Hospitality Industry General Award (HIGA). Pro-rata salary applies based on hours and experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Human Resources Coordinator, HR Administrator or similar role.
• Good understanding of HIGA and ability to interpret the Award.
• Knowledge of Australian employment legislation and documentation requirements.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Friendly communication and relationship-building with team members and leaders at all levels.
• Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
• Hands-on, proactive approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment: post ads, screen applications, arrange interviews, and support department heads.
• Handle onboarding/offboarding: contracts, pre-employment checks, inductions and exits.
• Maintain HR systems and records; ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Be the approachable first point of contact for HR enquiries and policy guidance.
