Job summary

Silverchain is hiring Home Care Workers in the Hills region and surrounding suburbs to help older community members stay independent at home. Casual roles with a view to part-time, an award rate of $43.03 per hour plus super and paid kilometres, and a comprehensive benefits program are offered.

Applicants should be flexible, client-focused, able to build strong relationships with clients and families, and comfortable working independently.

Qualifications

• 3–6 months experience in a similar role preferred.
• A valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured, roadworthy vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide general household help: cleaning, making beds, laundry, meal prep.
• Assist clients with grocery shopping and transport to activities.
• Offer social support and companionship to clients and their families.
• Support family carers by enabling breaks and respite when needed.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (3 - 6 months previous experience in a similar role).

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activities
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
