Job summary

Silverchain in the Hills region of Sydney is seeking a Home Care Worker to help older people stay at home with dignity. You will provide home help, assist with housekeeping, meal prep, laundry, transport to activities and social support, while building positive relationships with clients and their families.

Casual positions with a view to permanent part-time, award rate hourly pay, super, paid kilometres, and a benefits program.

Qualifications

• Experience in community care or aged care is preferred.
• Valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured vehicle.
• 3–6 months experience in a similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services including housekeeping and bed making.
• Clean, mop, vacuum floors.
• Wash, fold and iron laundry.

It takes a special person to be a Home Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their home and enhance their wellbeing. We are looking for just that person to join the Silverchain team in the Hills region and surrounding suburbs.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (3 - 6 months previous experience in a similar role).

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activities
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
