Job summary

Silverchain in Picton is seeking a compassionate Home Care Worker to support aged clients to stay at home with dignity and independence. You will visit clients, provide home help, assist with meals, housekeeping, laundry, and transport to activities, and offer social support to reduce isolation.

Requirements include an open class Australian driver’s licence and a own insured vehicle; prior aged care experience is valued but not essential, and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Open class Australian Driver's Licence required.
• Own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• Experience in community care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services to aged clients.
• Help with housekeeping, meals, laundry and shopping.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• An Open class Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (experience preferred but not essential).

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activitiesHelping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
