Job summary

Silverchain in Forster, NSW is seeking a Home Care Worker to support older community members at home. You will help with daily tasks and wellbeing, visiting clients across the Forster area.

This casual role offers an award rate of $41.08 per hour plus super, paid kilometres, uniform and a company phone, with opportunities to move into part-time on a permanent basis and access to training. If you value independence, compassionate service and building relationships with clients and their families,

Qualifications

• Experience in community care or aged care is preferred (3–6 months).
• Able to work independently and solve everyday problems.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable with driving and visiting clients at home.

Responsibilities

• Provide general housekeeping, meal prep, and laundry for clients.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, medications, and daily activities.
• Support clients to attend appointments and lifestyle activities.
• Deliver compassionate, safety-conscious home care and companionship.

It takes a special person to be a Home Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their home and enhance their wellbeing. We are looking for just that person to join the Silverchain team in the Forster area.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (3 - 6 months previous experience in a similar role).

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
