Job summary

Silverchain seeks a Care Worker in Port Macquarie West and surrounding suburbs to support older clients at home, delivering both domestic tasks and personal care. You’ll have guaranteed hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with a starting award rate of $34.42 per hour plus Super and paid travel allowances.

Applicants should have at least 3 months in a similar role, a valid Australian driver’s licence and their own insured vehicle. Training toward Cert 3 and CPR/First Aid courses are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in a similar professional role.
• Valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• Experience in personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

• Provide general housekeeping and home care tasks.
• Assist with meals, shopping, laundry and meal prep.

It takes a special person to be a Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their independence and wellbeing. We are looking for a person with at least 3 months experience in a similar professionalrole, to join the Silverchain team in Port Macquarie West and surrounding suburbs (Beechwood, Huntingdon, Redbank, Wauchope etc...).

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications. (no cert 3 required)

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
