Job summary

ConsultANZ seeks a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join a leading construction company in Sydney. The role guides site teams on health, safety and environmental matters, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

You will lead safety programs, inspections and incident investigations to protect workers and the environment. The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years in an HSE advisory role, with exposure to civil construction or mining environments and proficiency with ICAMS.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HSE advisory role.
• Experience in civil construction or mining is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of ICAMS.
• Strong ability to influence stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
• Self-driven and able to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site activities comply with safety regulations, legislation, and company policies.
• Review and update procedures to maintain compliance with statutory requirements.
• Provide expert advice on accident prevention and workforce health initiatives.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety standards and management systems.
• Implement and maintain site safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct routine site inspections to identify risks and enforce safe work practices.
• Assist in hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and timely reporting.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans tailored to site conditions.
• Deliver HSEQ feedback and actionable recommendations to project teams.
• Report all incidents to the HSE Manager within the required timeframe (30 minutes).
• Lead safety meetings and maintain effective communication with regulatory authorities.
