Job summary

ConsultANZ in Sydney seeks a Health & Safety Manager to join a top-tier client on a long-term joint venture project, overseeing road maintenance, traffic management and bridges. The role is a permanent engagement with responsibility for leading the health and safety function across the programme.

You will manage a team of three Safety Advisors, drive WHS policy updates, ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and collaborate with major clients to uphold OH&S best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with development, implementation, execution and continuous improvement of Health and Safety systems.
• Ideally 8+ years of experience with infrastructures (roads and bridges), and maintenance.
• ISO 4001 knowledge which is the H&S standard.
• Desirable federal safety experience – beneficial but not essential.
• Must be amenable for night shift H&S investigations.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret project-related documents, prepare reports and monitor compliance documentation.
• Ideally good writing and reporting skills/experience.
• Ideally to build strong relationships with major clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee continuous management and revision of WHS policy, management plans, systems and procedures.
• Ensure the TRA, SWMS and Safe Work Instruction align with legislative requirements.
• Manage and report on safety performance in line with Project WHS management systems.
• Provide advice, interpretation, and guidance to Management on statutory requirements and best practice developments within OH&S.
• Identify risk areas through trend analysis and implement proactive controls and target audits.
• Ensure training and education on systems, statutory appointments, hazard awareness, reporting and duty of care is delivered and captured.
• Manage 3 Safety Advisors who will report to you.

ConsultANZ is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join our Top-Tier client's team in Sydney. The client, involved in joint ventures overseeing significant projects such as road maintenance, traffic management, and bridges, is in need of a committed Health & Safety Manager. This role involves permanent engagement and an opportunity to contribute to the project's overall health and safety management.

Main Duties

• Continued management and revision of WHS policy, management plans, systems and procedures.
• Ensure the TRA, SWMS and Safe Work Instruction are all in line with legislative requirements.

• ISO 4001 knowledge which is the H&S standard.
• Desirable to federal safety experience – beneficial but not essential.
• Must be amenable for night shift H&S investigations.
