Job summary

CGC Recruitment is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor for a major health project in Cairns, North Queensland. You will promote a proactive safety culture, ensure WHS compliance, and support site teams to deliver a safe working environment on a complex construction site.

The role requires previous safety advisory experience on commercial projects and a strong track record with Tier 1 or Tier 2 builders, plus relevant WHS qualifications and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience as Safety Advisor on commercial construction projects.

Safety Advisor – Health Project

Our client who are a large Tier 2 builder is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join their team on a significant health project in Cairns, North Queensland.

With a strong reputation for delivering complex construction projects across Australia, this well respected builder offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced project team on a major health development where safety, quality and collaboration are paramount.

This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who understands the demands of large-scale construction and has previous experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 commercial builder.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the project management and site teams, you will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and helping deliver a safe working environment for everyone on site.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Implementing and maintaining site-specific WHS management plans and procedures.
• Conducting site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments.
• Monitoring subcontractor compliance with safety policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
• Leading toolbox talks, site inductions and safety training initiatives.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Safety Advisor on commercial construction projects.

• Relevant WHS qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and construction safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to build strong relationships with site teams and subcontractors.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach to identifying and managing safety risks.
• Previous experience on health, hospital or other complex construction projects will be highly regarded.
