Job summary

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) seeks an experienced Health Management Officer to apply clinical expertise in a broader organisational setting, safeguarding the wellbeing, safety and performance of a large workforce.

You will lead health initiatives, partner with internal and external providers, and contribute to policy development and strategic health priorities across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration and contemporary clinical experience.

Job description

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a highly adaptable and experienced health professional who is looking to leverage their clinical expertise in a broader organisational setting, dealing with confidential and personal health information of the over 3,000 employees. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to transition from a traditional clinical environment into a dynamic rail industry workplace, where they can apply their health management skills to support the wellbeing, safety and performance of a diverse workforce.

As the Health Management Officer, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external health service providers to ensure effective health management practices are embedded across the organisation. You will coordinate a range of initiatives including the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Peer Supporter Program, Triggered Medical Assessment Program and health and wellbeing projects that promote both physical and psychological wellbeing.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to provide informed health-related advice across the PTA. You will contribute to policy development, support compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards, analyse health data and performance indicators, and assist in delivering strategic health, and wellness priorities.

About You!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• Current AHPRA registration and contemporary clinical experience, with a strong understanding of evidence-based healthcare practices.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, manage and troubleshoot complex clinical queries and cases, balancing standard medical responses with the nuances of government legislation, regulatory requirements, organisational policies and industry guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary health and clinical management principles, workplace health and wellbeing practices, and psychological health strategies.
• Experience managing, developing and delivering health and wellbeing programs, with the ability to evaluate outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
• The ability to interpret health-related information, assess risk, provide practical recommendations and support informed decision-making across a range of workplace health matters consistent with the National standard for Health Assessments of Rail Safety Workers.
• Well-developed understanding of relevant health, and wellbeing legislation, standards and best practice frameworks.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret data and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• The ability to provide leadership, influence positive change and work effectively within a complex organisational environment.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available to June 2030 with the possibility of renewal. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months
